Parking
- On arrival use the Aireville College car Park – immediately on your right when you turn off the Gargrave Road.
- Follow the steps down to the park.
- Take care when using any roads in or near the park.
- The Leisure Centre carpark SHOULD NOT be used.
Toilets
- Porta-loos will be available for runners and spectators.
- Leisure centre toilets are not to be used.
Refreshments
There is a café in the Leisure Centre. If you wish to use the facilities, please remove any muddy footwear at the door. There will be signs to remind you.
First Aid Cover
In the first instance, athletes should refer to their team managers on the day. Should more specialist care be needed, there will be attendance from St John’s Ambulance / similar.
Safety
Whilst we recognise not everyone will have spikes or fell shoes, please be aware that the course is likely to be muddy. Football boots may well be better than trainers.
A full Risk Assessment has been carried out for the course. Please check the routes before you race. Uneven ground conditions are in the nature of cross-country running. If you are unhappy with any of the underfoot conditions, please alert the organisers highlighting any issues. If you are still unhappy with the conditions, you should not run in the races.

- Race distances and provisional start times as listed in the table below.
- Teams of 12 from each district are invited to the event. Up to 4 other runners per age group, per area may also be accommodated.
- In all cases, start loops (SL) and then short laps (S) are completed before any long laps (L).

Please ensure that your runners compete in the correct age group.
Numbers
These will be supplied at the venue – Team Managers to collect.
1 – 12 Harrogate & Craven
13 – 24 Hambleton & Richmond
25 – 36 Scarborough & District
37 – 48 York Schools
If there are more than 12 runner per age group, they will be given specific other numbers, which will be named. Please ensure runners use the numbers allocated to them.
Changing
There will be no changing facilities. Please dress accordingly.
Finishing Procedure
Upon finishing, runners will have their time and position recorded.
Selection for County Team – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY
- In the junior, intermediate and senior age group races the top 15 (12 in the Year 7 races) will be invited to represent the county at the northern inter-counties match on Saturday 8th February 2025. Currently due to be hosted by North Yorkshire at Stewart Park, Middlesborough.
- For those in the junior, intermediate and senior races, those in the first 6 will gain automatic selection for the English Schools Championships, to be held in Ardingly Show Ground on Saturday 15th March 2025. Two further athletes will be selected after the northern inter-counties match
- The first 6 Year 7s will be selected to represent the county at the National Junior Schools XC Championships, held at Shuckburgh Estate, Northampton on 22nd March 2025. Four others will be selected after the Northern inter-counties race.
- Invitations to these events will be detailed in the letters handed out at the finish line.
Anyone unable to run at Skipton through illness or injury or accepted reason (not usually another sport unless clearly higher representative level) and with cross country results to support them, can ask to be included in the northern inter-counties race on 8th February 2025.
Inclusion is at the selectors’ discretion.

Presentations
Runners finishing in the first three places will be awarded medals at the end of the events.
